Cookie Policy
Last updated: 19 October 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Dickens Self Storage Limited (“we”, “us” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on www.dickensselfstorage.co.uk.
Please read it alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information and how to exercise your rights.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your computer, phone or other device when you visit a website. They help websites work, remember preferences and understand how visitors use them.
Other technologies, including tracking pixels, scripts and browser storage, can perform similar functions. References to cookies in this policy include these technologies where relevant.
Cookies may be:
First-party cookies, set by the website you are visiting.
Third-party cookies, set by another organisation providing a service on the website.
Session cookies, which usually expire when your browsing session ends.
Persistent cookies, which remain until they expire or you delete them.
A cookie being first-party does not automatically mean it is essential.
Your cookie choices
Our cookie banner lets you:
Select Accept all to allow optional cookies.
Select Decline all to reject optional cookies.
Select Manage cookies to choose your preferences by category.
Our Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity tracking scripts remain blocked until you allow Performance and Analytics cookies.
Tracking delivered through our Google Tag Manager container is configured to load only when you allow both Performance and Analytics and Advertising cookies.
You can change your preferences at any time using Cookie settings at the bottom of our website. You can continue browsing the main website if you decline optional cookies.
Essential cookies
These cookies support functions such as website security and remembering your cookie choices. They are not used to measure advertising performance.
Examples include:

Performance and Analytics cookies
With your permission, these cookies help us understand how people find and use our website, identify problems and improve the visitor experience.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics helps us measure visits, traffic sources and interactions such as page views and scrolling. Information may include cookie identifiers, browser and device details, and information about your activity on the website.
CookiePurposeDefault duration_gaDistinguishes visitors.2 years_ga_P5B1E3QWCLMaintains session information for our Google Analytics property.2 years
Browser restrictions and service settings can shorten these durations.
Read more about Google’s use of cookies.
Microsoft Clarity
Microsoft Clarity helps us understand how visitors interact with the website through features such as heatmaps and session recordings. These show interactions such as clicks, scrolling and navigation.
Clarity cookies include:
CookiePurpose_clckRemembers a Clarity visitor identifier and preferences for this website._clskConnects page views into a single Clarity session recording.
Clarity may also use Microsoft cookies such as CLID, MUID, ANONCHK, MR and SM to recognise browsers and support its services. Some Microsoft identifiers can serve advertising as well as analytics purposes.
For further information, see Microsoft Clarity’s cookie information and the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Squarespace analytics
Squarespace may also set analytics cookies after you allow Performance and Analytics cookies. These include ss_cvr, which helps identify visitors across visits, and ss_cvt, which identifies a browsing session.
Their standard durations are two years and 30 minutes respectively, subject to browser restrictions.
Advertising and Google Tag Manager
We use Google Tag Manager to manage website tags. Google Tag Manager is not itself an advertising platform; the tags it loads determine what information is collected and which cookies are used.
Our Google Tag Manager container only loads after you allow both Performance and Analytics and Advertising cookies. Declining either category keeps the container blocked.
We do not use Microsoft Advertising (Bing Ads).
Reviews and other embedded services
Our website displays reviews and other content through third-party services, including Feefo and Elfsight. Embedded services may receive technical information, such as your IP address and browser details, when their content loads.
Cookies observed in connection with these services include:
__cf_bm and _cfuvid, associated with Cloudflare security and traffic-management services used by third-party providers.
elfsight_viewed_recently, used by Elfsight to prevent inflated widget view counts.
These are separate from the Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity cookies described above.
For further information about these providers, see Feefo’s Privacy Policy and Elfsight’s Privacy Policy.
Changing or withdrawing consent
To change your choices, select Cookie settings at the bottom of the website, adjust the optional categories and save your preferences.
Withdrawing permission stops the relevant tracking from loading on subsequent page loads. The website may refresh to apply your new choices.
Some cookies previously set by third-party providers may remain until they expire or you delete them through your browser. We cannot directly delete cookies belonging to another organisation’s domain.
Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place before you withdrew it.
Browser controls
You can also use your browser settings to inspect, block or delete cookies. Blocking all cookies may affect website functions, and deleting your consent cookies may cause the banner to appear again.
Cookie expiry periods can vary with provider settings, browser restrictions and repeat visits. Cookie expiry is separate from how long a provider retains information already collected.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our website, providers or cookie arrangements change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. Changes to this policy do not themselves mean that you have consented to optional cookies.
